Homeowners living below the poverty level? Yes, as much as this contradicts many of our stereotypes about the poor in our community there are many people living in poverty who own their own home. However, many of these people do not have the resources for the maintenance and repair necessary to create the safe, accessible, and comfortable homes we take for granted. This population includes the elderly, disabled, and widowed.

The Outreach Ministry Team has launched a new ministry to address this problem in the Chattanooga area, GraceWorX. The inaugural event for GraceWorX will be a three day mission and will focus its efforts on homeowners in the Brainerd area.

On July 29, 30, and 31, 2010 we will be going into the community and doing basic home maintenance and repair: painting, replacing flooring, minor carpentry, fixing leaky sinks, changing light bulbs, building access ramps, caulking, drywall repair, etc.

The three days of work, fun, fellowship, and service will be capped off on Saturday evening with a celebration of the Holy Eucharist and dinner for all participants.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!! - NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY - There is no cost to participate in this event.

You can volunteer for a few hours or three full days.

  • Jobsite workers: We can find a project for skilled and unskilled workers.
  • Meal Team: We will be providing lunch and dinner for the workers and need people to come to the church and help with the preparations and clean-up.
  • Administrative Team: We need assistance with organizing paperwork and registration of volunteers.
  • Financial Support: No mission can remain viable without the generous support of financial donors. If you would like to make a contribution to the GraceWorX Ministry you can do so through the church office. Just be sure to indicate that the contribution is for GraceWorX.
